Adi Da's Names
Over the course of His life and work with devotees, Adi Da has taken on a number of different names. Adi Da has explained how His changing names reflects the progressive changes in His Spiritual Work and His Revelation. This page is a very brief guide to those name changes.
"Celebrate My Good Company": The Sacred Cycle of Celebrations in Adidam
Like many of the world's great religious and spiritual traditions, Adidam commemorates its Spiritual Founder, Adi Da Samraj, in an annual, Sacred Cycle of celebrations marking particular great events in His life and work. Celebrations are particularly important as opportunities for devotees to come together to invoke Adi Da in the powerful way that occurs when large numbers of devotees participate — and thus to ecstatically re-confirm together that Adi Da is here as the Divine, presently and always. The annual Sacred Cycle in Adidam is a structure of twelve Holy Months. Each month is devoted to the celebration of a specific aspect of Adi Da's Divine Incarnation and His Gifts of Eternal Divine Agency.
The Sacred History of Adidam
The Sacred History of Adi Da's Life and Work is an extraordinary, unique, immense, and ongoing Divine Story, with many dimensions, and many thousands of participants. In this section, we concentrate on specific moments in the Sacred History of Adi Da and Adidam, as seen through the eyes of the people who were were there (including, when possible, Adi Da's Own Words). The moments are arranged in chronological order. Some of these moments are represented by Celebration presentations, since Adidam's annual cycle of Celebrations commemorates the key Events in Adi Da's Life and Work. Some of the moments are associated with Adi Da giving a Discourse, or a new book by Adi Da being published. What you currently see in this section is just the tip of the iceberg . . . Over time, we will be adding many more years, and many more stories and historical recounts associated with each year.
Money in Adidam
Money in Adidam serves two purposes: the "lower" and obvious purpose of paying the bills for everything that requires money: from the buildings to the book publications; and higher esoteric purposes based on spiritual principles. We discuss both of these purposes in this section. We also discuss: being a patron of Adidam; creating community businesses; and the annual Adidam Prosperity Puja.
Lawsuits, Media Circuses and "Anti-Adi Da" Websites
Back in the mid-1980s, a couple of lawsuits were brought against Adidam and Adi Da Samraj by a few disaffected former devotees. When these lawsuits were made public, given the nature of modern sensationalistic journalism, a generally negative public attitude toward "gurus", and the exaggerated language that commonly appears in legal complaints, a kind of "media circus" erupted. There was significant newspaper and television coverage, including a Today Show "exposé" about Adidam as a "religious cult". In the process of discovering Adi Da, a significant number of people run across "anti-Adi Da" websites that seek to combine decades-old newspaper clippings about these lawsuits, the associated "media circus", and Adi Da's "Crazy Wise" play with devotees in general at the time, into an argument against becoming Adi Da's devotee now. For this reason, we have created this special section to set the record straight — and to relieve and strengthen the hearts of those who otherwise are attracted to Adi Da and His extraordinary offering of the Way of Adidam.
