The Location of Happiness

An excerpt from Track 2 ("Understand Your Un-Happiness") of the CD, The Location of Happiness, a Discourse given by Avatar Adi Da on November 28, 1981.

In this Discourse, Avatar Adi Da describes the Nature of True Happiness and how it can be Realized moment to moment — not through seeking but through whole bodily Communion with the One Who Is Happiness. Formerly titled "The Bodily Location of Happiness", this updated edition of the CD is remastered and expanded, with 13 additional minutes of content.

You Can't Get There From Here (excerpt)

An excerpt from Track 3 (entitled "Realization Has No self") of the CD, You Can Get There From Here.

The famous punch line "You can't get there from here" is Avatar Adi Da's starting point for this engaging Discourse. He uses this humorous paradox to perfectly crystallize the condition of all who are caught in the trap of seeking.

"The 'self' can't get to God", Avatar Adi Da clarifies, because the act that generates the sense of "self" is the act of recoil from the Divine. Life is rightly lived not by concentrating on "fixing" this recoil but as the feeling-embrace of the requirements and conditions of existence. And Avatar Adi Da offers the Way "out" of the trap of "self" -and-"other": Locate the supreme attractiveness of His Radiant Divine State, and "self" is dissolved in "Brightness".

The Asana of Science (Excerpt)

An excerpt from Track 1 of the CD, The Asana of Science — A Discourse Given by His Divine Presence, Avatar Adi Da Samraj on October 25, 1980.

In this Discourse, Avatar Adi Da Samraj speaks about the false presumptions that are the basis of the conventional scientific point of view. He also describes our inherent participation in Reality — and He calls us to understand the limitations of present-day and traditional dogmas, by observing and considering our condition altogether.

Inspect and Understand Your Inherited Mind

This is a video excerpt from the DVD, Inspect and Understand Your Inherited Mind.

In this first volume of The Universal Tradition Video Series, Avatar Adi Da invites His listeners to participate in a study and consideration of the traditions of humankind (which He describes as collectively forming a single “Great Tradition”). Such consideration, He Says, is an essential foundation for questioning the perceptions and beliefs that have been unconsciously inherited from these traditions. He Reveals the Unity from which all traditions arise—the Truth that is Prior to every “point of view”—and urges everyone to transcend all presumptions of non-unity, which give rise to conflict (both individually and collectively).

The Dual Sensitivity That Moves The Heart

An excerpt from the CD, The Dual Sensitivity That Moves The Heart: Two Discourses Given by His Divine Presence Avatar Adi Da Samraj, June 20 and 21, 1995.

In these exquisite Discourses, which were recorded over two consecutive nights on the island of Naitauba in Fiji, Avatar Adi Da Communicated essential Instruction on what He calls the "dual sensitivity" — or, the simultaneous sensitivity to the suffering of mortal existence and to the heart's impulse toward True Happiness.

ADI DA: It is not sufficient just to always remember that this is not paradise, that this is mortality-land, everything passes. . . . You must realize that your heart-disposition . . . cannot be satisfied with anything less than Infinite, Absolute Happiness, or Divine Realization. And on the basis of that dual sensitivity, I Call you to respond to Me.

Participate In The Invisible Dimension of Reality

This is track #3, "The New Doctrine of Materialism",from the CD, Participate In The Invisible Dimension of Reality, available from the Dawn Horse Press. This talk was given by Avatar Adi Da on February 27, 1988.

Using the Shamanistic traditions of North America to illustrate right relationship to the invisible, energy realms of existence, Avatar Adi Da urgently calls everyone to overcome the addiction to the false doctrine of materialism. Free and full participation in the energy dimension of existence, Avatar Adi Da says, provides the necessary foundation for restoring balance to the Earth-world, and for ecstatic embrace of the Reality-Realizing Process in His Divine Company.

ADI DA: Aren’t you still . . . limited by this materialistic “point of view”, such that you do not yet feel free to accept the Reality of the Very Divine (and the spirit-“world” itself) in all of Its dimensions? . . . You have to break the spell of the doctrines of your own time that limit your consciousness to the material domain. . . . You have to Wake Up.

The Relationship To The Guru Is The Constant In Life

This video clip is an excerpt from the DVD, The Relationship To The Guru Is The Constant In Life.

By tendency, people are bound to the natural cycle of ups and downs. Neither bodily pleasures nor spiritual pursuits result in True Freedom from this constant phasing. One path merely accentuates the descending (or bodily) experiences and the other, the ascending (or subtle) experiences.

In this Discourse, Avatar Adi Da reveals with absolute clarity how the relationship with the Guru gives freedom from this trap—because the Guru is the Manifestation of the Condition that is Prior to this mechanical cycling, not part of it.

Watching this DVD will transport viewers to a special moment in Adidam history. July 29, 1973, was the day Avatar Adi Da left Los Angeles for a Yajna (sacred journey) through India and Nepal. He returned as “Bubba Free John”, His first spontaneously revealed Teaching-Name. Thus, this was the last Discourse He gave as “Franklin Jones” (Avatar Adi Da’s birth name).

All the recordings were made by the Adidam Sacred Music Guild during live occasions in the various Temples on Naitauba.

Da Hridayam

This audio excerpt is "Da Om, Om Da" — track 5 on the CD, Da Hridayam.

Da Hridayam is a collection of devotional chants from longtime devotee, JoAnne Sunshine. These new chants invoke the Divine via the Names and Declarations of Divine Realizer Avatar Adi Da Samraj. The CD beautifully explores a vast array of cultural styles and instruments. It is uplifting, absorbing, and inventive — a sublime celebration.

"True Water—cool, clear, and surprising."
—Ray Lynch, composer and 3-time Billboard Award winner

JoAnne Sunshine has devoted many years to studying and practicing the art of sacred devotional singing in the company of Avatar Adi Da Samraj. JoAnne has written compositions for Broadway star Laura Theodore, opera singers Crane Kirkbride, Mel McMurrin, and Elizabeth deBrine. The Ego's Logic of Cause-and-Effect

This is a video excerpt from Adi Da's Avataric Discourse of October 20, 2004, at Adi Da Samrajashram. In this excerpt, Adi Da speaks about the Big Bang theory in the context of the ego’s logic of cause-and-effect, and how egos tend to mistakenly confuse "first cause" with God or Reality.

The full talk is available on the DVD, The Ego's Logic of Cause-and-Effect (nearly four hours long). In this talk, Adi Da points out how the logic of cause-and-effect is operative not only in the conventional religious presumption that the Divine is the Cause of the world, but also in all human historical traditions—from the most ancient astrologically based cultures, to various Western philosophies, to the esoteric traditions that posit a subjective source for phenomena.

The Truth of the matter, Avatar Adi Da Reveals, is this: Everything and everyone that arises is merely an apparent modification of Reality Itself. Reality Itself is always Prior to the universe of conditional beings and things. And, ultimately, the process of Realizing Reality Itself utterly Outshines both the question of cause and the noticing of effects.

The Grace of Trust

Audio excerpt from a Discourse given by Adi Da Samraj at Adi Da Samrajashram, on January 7, 1994. Adi Da leads us to inspect all the unconscious presumptions that determine our sense of what is "real" - including the core presumption of being a separate "self". "Notice the chronic disposition of mistrust and fear that accompanies this core illusion", He says, "and allow your heart to trust What Is Real."

The complete Discourse is available on the CD, The Grace of Trust.
