Terry
Henry — In 1979, I was introduced to Adi Da Samraj (then known
as
Bubba Free John) through
His book
The Enlightenment
of the Whole Body. Reading that book communicated a profound
reality that was beyond words, and was clearly a different paradigm
from anything I had studied. This book represented the first of
several turning points in my life.
I was born in Michigan, raised in an agrarian environment. From
early on, study was a major part of my life: I earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree from Michigan State University, a Masters of Divinity
from San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, California,
and a Masters of Sacred Theology from the General Theological
Seminary in New York City. In 1971, I was ordained
in the Presbyterian Church, and in 1976, took Holy Orders in the
Episcopal Church. I served in five parishes and preached
almost every Sunday. Adi Da’s Revelation teaching
enlivened, informed, broadened and deepened my communication of
the living truth revealed in the Christian scriptures.
Another turning point came in 1982, when, after eighteen months
in office, President Ronald Reagan and the Congress effectively
dissolved a social program that had taken twenty years to build.
The “social gospel” — with its focus on justice — was the
paradigm by which I had lived. After that political
fiasco, it was clear to me that "liberation theology" did not
really answer the pressing questions of our time. Consequently,
I began studying Adi Da’s written word more seriously, looking
for His paradigm relative to freedom, justice and liberation.
By 1993 it had become gracefully apparent to me that His Revelation
Teaching was real and that He was the One of whom I spoke every
Sunday when I said, “He will come again.”
I surrendered my Holy Orders in the Episcopal Church
in 1997 when I came under vow to Avatar Adi Da Samraj as my Spiritual
Master. I went on to serve as a missionary for Adidam in New York
City while working as a Resource Development Coordinator for RMM,
the Rural and Migrant Ministry. (RMM is an ecumenical organization
located in New York State that advocates on behalf of rural poor
and migrant farm workers in New York State.) I also worked as
Finance Administrator for SAVI, a rape crisis program that is
part of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. During
2005 - 2006, I managed the Publications Mission Division of the
Adidam Pan-Communion. I then served in the Northern California
Region in advocacy and public relations. For the last few years, I have been the
CEO of the Adidam Institution.
In my spare time, I have joined with Leroy and Chris to
create and evolve this website so that the voices of devotees
and the incredible Siddhi (Spiritual Power) of Adi Da Samraj can
be heard and felt throughout the world. In a world that is insane
and rapidly moving toward self-destruction, Adi Da is the Divine
Realizer for this age. His Revelation Teaching, His
Person, His Art and His theatre are priceless gifts to each and
all. There is no need for despair and self-destruction
— Divine Liberation is being Revealed right now.
